Tamiment Library and Fales collection

My favorite part of visiting the library was actually documenting it. I took photos on professor Smith-Howard's camera of the students listening to the librarians speaking and I loved watching different people's reactions to the subjects being discussed. It was also really cool to see the old census books which I saw in both Tamiment and Fales Special Collections. It was cool to look up the old names and see things like Bishop the Blacksmith of 30 5th Avenue. It really helped me imagine what life was like back then. I also really enjoyed getting to see the old publications like the Massess. I wish that their were some more photographs, like original Kertesz's and original Hine, but most of those are owned by the NYPL and NYHS but I got to see them when I visited those places. I've never really been a big fan of the library and don't spend much time in it, but I did really enjoy going there with a purpose and focusing on a small piece. I dislike the library because I feel very intimidated by it and don't know where to start, so it was nice to take it on in small pieces.
